I am the National Sales Manager at Conplant. I am responsible for helping the business achieve both its hire and capital sales targets Australia wide.
Over 12 years!
I started as a Customer Service Manager on the road around the Brisbane metro area, North Queensland and far Western Queensland. I was in that role for seven years before progressing to Manager – QLD & NNSW, which I did for a little over 5 years before moving into to the national role I currently hold.
I’m from Inverell in North-Western New South Wales. I went to university in Newcastle, before moving to Brisbane in 2002. Prior to working at Conplant I lived overseas for 18 months.
I’d worked in the machinery industry previously – one of my previous managers had come over to Conplant and suggested I give it a go. I didn’t know a lot about rollers back then, it was something new for me – although I really liked the sales side so I wanted to continue that. Working in a family-owned company really attracted me. Conplant is also well-respected in the industry. It’s great to be associated with a reputable brand and reputable people.
We have a big focus on customer service and aftermarket support which is key. You can talk the talk but you need to back up your commitments which Conplant does. We’ve got good people in the business who have a lot of expertise and they’re happy to share. Being a specialist organisation, we’d like to think we do it better than anyone else – and the customer surveys we get back suggest they think so too, which is great.
It’s pretty varied, depending on what’s happening at the time – any combination of customer visits, operations meetings, business development, managing the sales team and some strategic planning for the future as well.
We’ve got a large amount of new equipment about to hit our hire fleet which is pretty exciting. My job is to make sure that gear’s out working!
